Saturday/Sunday in Seattle

Remember the weekend recently when it was 80 degrees and sunny on Saturday and 45 degrees, windy and pouring rain on Sunday? Yeah? So do I. I did the following shoot for Scout and Ziggy on Saturday and then did the shots of Fergie that follow on Sunday. Note the contrast between the groups of images.

Hot Scout at the Arboretum.

A dog uses it's tongue to try and cool off. Not sure if it was helping poor Ziggy here.

This helped a little.

It's not that it was super bloody hot, but in comparison to the previous weeks it felt like 100 degrees.

Ok, this is pretty much what we all felt like at that shoot.

Ahh shade, under a pretty pink tree.

My favorite shot from the shoot. Curly tongue! BTW: did you know that when a dog's tongue curls up like this it means he/she is really, really hot? Yep! Kind of like a leaf in the sun.

Now, that was Saturday.

Ready for Sunday? Here ya go.

Fergie, Discovery Park. The intention was to get shots of her catching the disk, which was a gift from Fergie's grandpa. He had been wanting to go to DP with us for months to document her skills. We planned for that Sunday and the weather couldn't have been worse. It doesn't look too awful in the photos, but after 20 minutes of shooting my hands were so cold I couldn't feel them and I said "Ok, let's go!". And we left.

This is funny. It was raining so hard I had to put a plastic bag around my camera. it was a good thing that I did. By the time we got back to the car we were soaked.

This shoot was really hard for me. The weather made it tough (notice my bad color and focus issues), but what made it really hard is that I have never watched Fergie catch a disc with anyone else. I was so amazed at her anti-gravity skills I kept forgetting to push the shutter button on my camera. I kept going "wow Fergie, wow!", then would snap the shot after she hit the ground, kind of as an afterthought. This next one I like, and I think speaks volumes about the athletic side of the Fergermeister's personality.

Now, I have been wishing hard for Mother Nature to get back on my (Seattle's) side. Today she was in cooperation which was great for my shoot for D'ogi the puppy, but tomorrow I'd like sun too because we will be going back to Discovery Park for more disc throwing.

If anyone reading this has any effective weather dances or can pull some strings with MN, please help us here in the Northwest!

Thank you.

Fergie Kinnear Park

Boy, the weather during this shoot was quite a bit different than it was today. Snowing in Seattle at the moment! Isn't this supposed to be spring? Luckily we are back to warmer sunny weather by Monday. Darn, this means I'll need to reschedule my shoot for tomorrow. Hmpf...

Fergie at upper Kinnear Park, her new favorite playground. This session was an experiment. I played around with the settings on my camera: saturation, contrast, color balance, metering modes, etc. Not super crazy about the colors but some of the shots are kind of interesting. A different look for me for sure. Don't think I'll continue it...

But she sure is cute, isn't she?

My favorite of the bunch.

"Hey! How'd those daisies get on my ball?!"

This one was massively photoshopped. In a client's case it would have been a delete but since it's my own daughter-dog I had to keep it. She makes me laugh.

Once again my apologies for the sparse posts. I promise I will provide some updates on what has been keeping me so busy soon!

Fergie Seattle Center

These shots were for a recent magazine shoot to be announced later this month. It was a last-minute decision to head over to the Seattle Center and take some snaps and boy were we glad we did. It was sooo pretty that day. As you can see, Fergie did great as my model, and we had some really cool backdrops to work with. The purple EMP shots are some of my new favorites. If Fergie's personality were a color it would be purple.

Pet photography in Seattle can be just as good in March as in July. :-)

Evening Magazine sneak peek of CityDog Magazine Art Show

If you live in Western Washington, be sure to tune in to Evening Magazine tonight (Wednesday) on KING5 at 7pm!

They will be doing a sneak-peek of the CityDog Magazine Art Show tomorrow night.

You might even see yours-truly AND Fergie in the spot, as we were filmed being 'art show attendees' and pretended we were admiring the art displays, which, ahem, wasn't very hard to do- there is some amazing work in there!

So set your alarm, make sure your dinner is ready, and don't blink or get up to use the bathroom because it will be a super short (30-second?) spot and easy to miss. It will probably come on before a commercial break so be forewarned!

Yippee- Evening Magazine. :-)

The Fergie Chronicles

I was tagged by my dear friend Linda to interview Fergie for a dog meme.

(Linda I am thinking of you and Maisie every day and wishing you both the best on her road to recovery!)

Fergie was happy to take part in this post and has provided her answers below, to the best of her abilities.

This is Fergie in front of an oil painting done by my mom in 1969 (love it!!):

And here are her answers:

What are your 5 favorite songs?

1. The sweater song by that Ingrid Michaels girl. You know, the one on the Old Navy commercial? My mom says that is 'our' song and every time it comes on the radio she stops whatever she is doing and cuddles with me and sings it to me. I really like that a lot.
2. The Rolling Stones 'Midnight Rambler'. I love dancing to this song. I am a very good dancer. I like to dance on my hind legs.
3. 'Is This Love' by Bob Marley.
4. 'Waiting for my Ruca' by Sublime because I always cock my head to the dog barking at the beginning
5. Anything fun with a good beat that's easy to dance to.

What are your 5 favorite toys?

1. Green rubber everlasting fun ball. I DO have everlasting fun with this ball.
2. Purple rubber squirrel
3. Black Kong, because that is what I eat my breakfast out of.
4. Any tennis ball.
5. Any stuffed animal that my mom or grandpa or grandma gets me from Goodwill because I get to give it the death shake and tear it to bits.

What are your 5 favorite things to eat?

1. Fishy food by Wellness. My mom hates it because she says it's stinky.
2. Ziwi Peak Venison and Mussels treats. stinky, stinky, yummy, yummy.
3. Bananas
4. Goldfish crackers
5. Plato salmon strips doggie treats. My new fave!

What are your 5 favorite activities?

1. Fetching ball
2. Swimming
3. Dock jumping
4. Dancing with my mom
5. Cuddling under the covers

What are your 5 bad habits?

1. Getting nasty with other dogs over my ball (I'm not a good sharer)
2. Pulling on the leash (sorry mom)
3. I take forever to pee and poo, don't know why
4. I don't bark but sometimes when I growl at dogs outside I get right next to my mom's head and do it when she is laying on the couch. I think that bugs her.
5. Hmm, I'm really pretty good, I can't think of anything else.

And my friends who get tagged to interview their own dogs for their doggie memes are:
Manon and Otis, Leigh and Hugo, and Angie and Merry.
